Mountaindale 1970 Cardboard Festival Poster Grateful Dead ++
Price:
$500.00
Original 1st printing 12&3/4 x 21&7/8" cardboard poster for the (aborted) Mountaindale festival, a series of shows initally scheduled in Sullivan County, NY from 7/11-8/29/1970
Details:
Scheduled to appear were; the Band, Cathy Smith, Blodwyn Pig, Grateful Dead, John Sebastian, the Kinks, the Voices of East Harlem, Van Morrison and M.C. Biff Rose (7/11), a film festival (7/25), Janis Joplin, Paul Butterfield, Chicago, Big Brother & the Holding Company, Delaney & Bonnie, James Taylor, Sly & the Family Stone and Ten Years After (8/1), Mongo Santamaria, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk and Roland Kirk (8/8) and Jefferson Airplane (8/15). Thick cardboard stock is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; several creases in the upper left and right corners (ranging from about 2"-3"), a few scattered tiny age spots, an area of light inking at the bottom center, slight surface wear, otherwise fine. A very interesting artifact from what probably would have been a superb series; only problem was, Sullivan County just wasn't issuing any permits for large gatherings in the summer following Woodstock.
